Engineering Maintenance Fitter Careers

WORK ENVIRONMENT:-

As an engineering maintenance fitter, you will repair and examine machines and equipment in a variety of industries like aerospace, transport and manufacturing. You can work in the mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic and computerized system to safeguard against hindrance in production or shut down.

Your job will fall in the following two areas:

• Preventative or planned maintenance
• Emergency maintenance

Your duties in preventative maintenance will consist of:

• Making schedule checks on parts of machinery
• Cleaning and oiling machines and parts
• Recalibrating instruments and finding and fixing errors
• Performing schedule repair
• Replacing parts that attains the last part of their functioning life

Your duties in emergency maintenance will consist of:

• Fixing mistakes on site or making arrangement for the substitution equipment to be set up
• Reacting quickly to the machines failure

You will make use of manufacturer technological diagrams and manuals to assist in tracing the faults and perform the work with the series of tools and mechanism like welding equipment. You will basically work in a team with the shift supervisor and engineering technicians.

QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:-

Engineering Apprenticeship will be helpful for you if you are thinking to enter into this field. The array of apprenticeship available in your region will depend on the skills and abilities desired by the employer from their worker and local job market.

You will normally require GCSEs (Grade A-E) in subject like English, Science, Technology or equivalent qualifications.

On the other hand, you can take the college courses like Manufacturing Engineering or Operations and Maintenance Engineering BTEC National Diploma and Certificate. • Ability to complete the work in the determined deadlines

• Proficient with the engineering diagrams and technical manuals
• Good oral and written communication skills

SALARY AND OTHER BENEFITS:-

• Preliminary salaries are between $ 16,000 and $ 22,000 every year.
• Qualified fitters can make between $ 23,000 and $ 32,000.
• Senior fitters with further duties and responsibilities can be paid up to $ 36,000 every year.

WORKING CONDITIONS:-

You will be working for 40 hours for five days in a week. Overtime and shift work are common, and might be on-call to handle the emergencies.

As per your job, you can be based in the industrial unit or construction plant or out-of-doors in all the whether conditions, for instance refurbishing equipment on the construction site. You will carry protective clothing like safety boots, hard hat etc.
