Pharmacist Cover Letter

A cover letter is used to give your summarized introduction to the recruiter. It contains basic information about why you want to join this job, what are your key skills, experience and education. It can't be a detailed note as it is just a prelude to the resume.

Task of a pharmacist is to give medicine to the patients as per the prescription from the doctor. They also help the patients in getting the right medicine for minor infections or diseases. They have to brief the patients or customers about the right dosage to be taken. Giving medicine is a big responsibility and for this they have to understand the medicine chemistry, their side-effects and potency. They work at hospitals and/ or at private shops tending to over the counter sale of the medicine. Veterinary medicine is also one specialized branch here.

I recently saw your advertisement for an available job post of a full-time pharmacist at your hospital. This ad was posted on www.medicinetoday.com dated 22st Nov, '13. I would like to apply for the same.

I have a good experience at pharmacy. I have been a pharmacist for 8 years now. My last job was at CNC Hospital in Clarksville. My responsibilities there included heading the pharmacy unit, overseeing the medicine stock, supervising the junior pharmacists - a team of 10 people, placing purchase orders for pharmaceuticals and maintaining records. I was also involved in guiding patients (suffering from diabetes, asthma, high-blood pressure) with general services like giving injections, keeping their treatment records and helping them over phone. Wound dressing and fracture plaster were some other routine activities that were a part of my work. Before this I had practiced pharmacy at some private dispensaries.

On the education front, I have done a full 4 years course in pharmacy from the Cornwell School of Medicine followed by 1 year of public health services. It is because of this diverse experience that I feel confident that I will be able to do full justice to my duties at your hospital and contribute further in smooth functioning of the pharmacy department. I have recently graduated from the Charleston School of Medicine after doing a 4 years' Pharmacy course with Biology and Chemistry as my majors. During this time I have spent 15 months in my internships where I have worked in public healthcare programs as associate pharmacist and learnt the field work.
