WORK ENVIRONMENT:-

In the advertising industry the art directors are frequently called 'creative's' who plan visual concepts for stunning advertising campaigns.

As an art director, you will be working with the copywriter's team who gives words to go with your visual images. Every project will begin with a meeting of the clients, the target viewers, the product and the advertising memorandum to be explained. Your work will then comprise of:

  • working together with the copywriter to make original ideas
  • create storyboards for television commercial or sketches of your thoughts
  • offering the ideas to the organizations account team and creative director

  • assisting to give ideas to the clients
  • making the changes if the patrons solicit for
  • create artwork or television ads for getting graphic designers, photographers, artists or film companies
  • selecting studios or locations and remaining present at films and photo shoots
  • ensuring that financial plan or time limit are met
  • supervise the final editing of the completed ads

QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:-

You should have advanced artistic ability and good creative design skills. In practice, many art directors have BTEC HND or degree in advertising design, graphic design or illustration or fine art.

TRAINING DETAILS:-

In the beginning you will start working as a junior creative and build up your skills on the job. In the big advertising agencies, you will be given training through a structured graduate scheme.

Your training might include the IPA Foundation Certificate, which is a junior staff online course for at least 6 months experience in the field of advertising.

You must remain up-to-date with the news and development of advertising all through your career. DandAD presents Workout, a series of one-day development course for creative. IPA offers seminars and variety of short courses for the staff which is working in its associate agencies.

SALARY AND OTHER BENEFITS:-

  • Initial salaries are frequently between $18,000 and $25,000 every year.
  • With experience, salary can be between $26,000 and $50,000.
  • Superior creative in leading agencies can be paid up to $100,000.

WORKING CONDITIONS:-

Your hours can differ and you will generally work from Monday to Friday, but you might have to work for long hours if you have to meet up with the deadlines.

You will be based in the office, but may have to go to the patrons or visit the locations or studios where the ads are being made.
