At this point you can finish the Award/Diploma/Certificate in Playwork You can also make an entry into this job all the way through the Apprenticeship Scheme. TRAINING DETAILS:- Once you start working as a play worker you can finish the different qualification as per your job. Being an assistant play worker (working together with more senior play workers), you can work for qualification like NVQ in Playwork (Level 2) which is awarded by BTEC, CACHE or C & G. from September 2010 the NVQ will be replaced by the new Award, Diploma/Certificate in Playwork (Level 2) As a senior play worker/playgroup leader or coordinator you may take one of the qualifications:
From September 2010 these qualification will be reinstated by the new Certificate/Award/Diploma in Playwork (Level 3). As a playwork development officer or playwork manager, you will be working towards BTEC HNDs, foundation degrees or degrees associated with the playwork. Play Worker who are freelancer, or work on the short term base, makes a portion of permanent rates (called as pro-rate payment) or can be given an hourly rate. WORKING CONDITIONS:- You might work full or part time. Many playwork is required at the weekends, evenings and during the school holidays. You can work both outdoors and indoors, as per the situation and activity type. Your work will be basically dynamic, probably comprising of combining in with the activities like sports and games. DIFFERENT OPPORTUNITIES:- You can do the job in the local authorities, private companies and voluntary organizations. Though there are some permanent jobs and the majority are freelance. Some jobs are cyclic, for instance when the school is having holidays. You might be able to get the work out of country, especially with the holiday companies. Being an experienced play worker, you can make a progress to the management or supervisory job. You can become self-employed and start after-school clubs. With proper qualification, you can concentrate in the play therapy and training. You might be able to shift into other connected jobs like youth worker or teaching assistant.
